FirstFloor Energy Positive CEO Robbie Ferris met with the Horry County school board in 2014, he pitched a bold idea of creating schools that would eventually not have an energy bill. The hope for the schools is in 3 years time, they will be generating more power than they consume.
Energy positive means the buildings create more energy than they use on an annual basis and savings are projected to increase over their lifetime of the buildings. High performance means that all elements of the building are optimized for an extended life cycle, including environment, safety, security, durability, accessibility, cost-benefit, and productivity.
