Project Description
The Hoke County Courthouse reimagines a civic landmark that serves residents with clarity, dignity, and care. The plan organizes the building around three distinct and secure circulation routes—public, judicial/staff, and detainee—to enhance safety and efficiency without compromising openness. A generous, light‑filled lobby orients visitors from the moment they arrive, providing direct access to the Clerk of Court, public services, and wayfinding to courtrooms and hearing rooms.
Courtrooms are designed for clarity of sight and sound, with balanced natural and artificial lighting, acoustic control, and integrated technology to support hybrid proceedings and evidence display. Consolidated back‑of‑house zones—chambers, jury deliberation, holding, and support—improve adjacencies and reduce travel time for staff and deputies.
The architecture draws on durable, low‑maintenance materials that reference local civic precedent while meeting today’s performance expectations. High‑efficiency mechanical systems, robust envelope design, and careful daylighting target lower total cost of ownership for the County. Site planning prioritizes secure sally‑port operations, intuitive public arrival, and a clear relationship to future phases.
