Two articles featured in ASCENT Magazine’s Summer 2018 edition

SfL+a Architects and Firstfloor were featured in two articles in Ascent Magazine’s Summer 2018 edition, How Precast Builds K-12 Schools: Safe. Cost Effective. On Schedule.

Robbie Ferris (CEO/President of SfL+a Architects and Manager of Firstfloor) authored an article titled, Life-Cycle Cost Analysis. In this article, Robbie discusses the importance of evaluating projects from a life-cycle cost approach and looking at the total cost of ownership of a specific building. Robbie reviews two recent projects our team completed, Sandy Grove Middle School in Hoke County, NC and 5 new schools in Horry County Schools, SC. The second article, Quick Recovery by Craig Shutt, is a case-study looking at Northern and Eastern Guilford High Schools with Guilford County Schools. Both buildings used a total-precast concrete panel and framing system. The article dives into the benefits of these systems and what the design and construction team discovered during the build of these projects.
